Update problem.

Hi,    I have been having problems with our site on Wordpress, Spirit of Revolt | Archives of dissent • Glasgow • Scotland • elsewhere Certain plugins will not update, when I try to update them I get the error message: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions. bws_menu/images/membership-background.jpg   Also worrying is the fact that I can't update to the latest versions of Wordpress, the version I have is now away behind. On trying to update I get the error message:

I have asked several people for assistance but none have come forward with anything.   John.
