Keith,

interesting, the new booking system was complimented at the event on Saturday.

As, rather uncharacteristically, nobody has replied on list (they may
have done so off list, and if so I'm likely repeating something), here
is some info which may resolve some aspects of this issue for you.

The system we use is open source and relatively easy to
setup/maintain, but this requires hosting (and a databased etc), and
investing your time to do so. If they don't currently have their own
hosting this likely isn't much good for them.

We avoid Facebook/Google tools because they require an account for use
(as opposed to simply viewing), raising the bar of participation, the
privacy concerns (under default usage) associated with them and the
fact that members have been vocal about not relying on such things for
various reasons (crazy terms and conditions, relatively heavy
bandwidth requirements etc). For context some of our members are on
dial up or fixed bandwidth contracts.

As I've never looked for such a service being provided by anyone else
I can only suggest doing some research, it certainly seems like the
kind of thing that would exist.

Cheers

Martin
