Personally I don't think C# is ideal for a few reasons.
The framework is somewhat bloated, non trivial to setup for beginners on
platforms other than Windows.
Perhaps something Python, Perl, PHP or Processing would be better?
They're cross platform by design, open source, and simple to setup on any
platform.
The workstations in the room have at least two of these installed by
default.
I guess it depends on what people are actually looking to do.
