In addition to Ben's comments, which I agree with totally, I'm sure Kieran
was talking about the amount of spam received as a result of being a list
moderator/owner rather than replies or unwanted content. The discussions
list gets loads of the stuff. I use my gmail account for this, it's spam
filter is really good and I haven't had any problems with this SPAM ending
up in my inbox.

Yasmin,

"The Electron Club, as an affiliate of the CCA, though with its own funding
structure, should not be used as a forum to circulate criminal behaviour,
or clues to how it may be instigated."

If you are suggesting this is the case I'd like to know specifics.

"If hacking for illegal reasons is being carried out on CCA property it
will be looked into. It contravenes the Electron Club's own policy - does
it not?"

Yes, it does, are you actually suggesting this such activities are actually
taking place with the Electron club room?

"What is not allowed?

Smoking, drinking, gambling, pornography, party political campaigning,
illegal (pirate) software, duplication of copyrighted materials, leaving
the facilities in an untidy state, anything life threatening, anything
disruptive to the rest of CCA and Garnethill generally, being
disruptive/discourteous to other members."

Referring to a member as "some EC goon" could be considered discourteous.

I've seen very few emails which could be described as being of commercial
nature on the list, so few that no specifics spring to mind, I'd have to
search the archive to find an example.

There's a difference between netiquette and what is legally
binding/enforceable.
In my view the EC lists should be a place where discussion and debate is
welcome, abusing or threatening others should not be tolerated.

If you have any comments regarding the operational issues which you wish to
keep 'off list' send a mail to enquiries at electronclub.org

Thanks

Martin
