Hi Frank, Steve and Mitch
How about an article on the "Common Good Awareness Project" Maybe angled on
the opportunity to reinvigorate the social, cultural and political scene,
using something that is unique to Scotland - the Common Good Fund.
A commonality with shared assets which has a legal concept that matches its
historical development. An organising tool (even without the assets) that
could help to invigorate our atomised communities through a sense of common
ownership and could help to point towards more feasible, democratic,
economic models and value systems than the ones that are presently
consuming us "all".
The Common Good is a tradition of the Scottish commons that is 500 years
old - that mirrors the Scottish Enlightenment in forward thinking with its
roots in a collectivist approach to well-being of ordinary folk -
The fate of this half millennium of history with its valuable public owned
assets, is now mainly in the hands of councilors who believe their robes of
office and victories in 4 year power struggles, gives them the right to
squander 500 years of history and the public estate? Ch Bob
