There is also a toner-transfer method where you can print your layout using
a laser printer and then iron this onto the board. I haven't tried this but
have heard of folks using it with varying success.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on, as I'll soon have a need to be
making PCBs using SMD devices, can't really afford to send off for these
doing, and the last time I made PCBs I had access to a well kitted out
workshop with all the usual lamps and tanks etc. I won't this time!
