Hi,
I recently saw that there was some chat about openstreetmap on the list
and thought that I would let you all know that there is a pub meeting on
OSM next tuesday. Please see the Edinburgh wiki page for details
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Edinburgh#News
I was also asked a couple of questions at the Xmas meal (thanks Jan for
organising)
In Edinburgh we now have verified all the street names against the
Ordnance Survey names. You can see what the rest of Scotland is like by
going here
http://oscompare.raggedred.net/?zoom=10&lat=55.85315&lon=-3.79389&layers=B0TF
Where you see a coloured square is where our name does not match with
the OS name
Recently potlatch 2 has been released, this is the in browser editor, it
is much faster and easier than the old version and has the ability to
trace Bing satellite images
There is also a number of derived maps
Check out
http://toolserver.org/~geohack/geohack.php?project=osm&pagename=Edinburgh&language=en¶ms=55.95_N_-3.19_E_type:city
for a list
one which is not mentioned is Wheelmap.org
http://en.wheelmap.org/?zoom=16&lat=55.94965&lon=-3.19413&layers=BT
This is where the map highlights places with wheelchair access. This is
very new so we have not put in much data yet.
Cheers
Bob
