Hi Si,

All of the above really. I'm trying to start with video at the moment. I've
had a look at pre-made sensor systems like eowave and i-cubeX but we're not
sure if there'll be a budget yet or not so I've also had a look at Arduino
and some DIY sensors. I'm guessing that'll be a bit cheaper and will
probably allow me more variety of uses for the technology for other projects
once this one's done.

Like I say though just video for now, the ideas were getting away from us a
little so it seemed like a good place to start. I started looking at Cyclops
an object for Max/MSP, which is what I mainly use, but it was starting to
look unlikely I'd ever get it up and running so I've switched to Eyesweb
which is showing more promise. All I'm really trying to do with it at the
moment is track someone's motion (which was easy enough from their example
patches) and get some data across to Max so I can really start to use it
(that'll be today and tomorrows job).

Long term through the goal is definitely to use sensors.

I'm a music tech graduate with a masters in digital composition
(computer music basically). I'm starting a project with composer with
the goal being tracking a dancers movements to generate/control musical
content. I wanted to check this out as having access to the space may be
useful plus I'm looking at DIY sensors which may involve some
electronics which I have precisely no experience of. Hopefully I could
gain some insights. Thanks,

Pete: what kind of tracking are you interested in? You can use sensors
like accelerometers for detailed movement of limbs etc, which you can
use in conjunction with Arduino boards if you want to build your own, or
stuff like video tracking software for more general movement with space.
