Just wanted to keep you updated about a few workshops coming up which might be of interest. All our workshops take place Tuesday evenings, 6pm - 8pm, at MAKlab, The Lighthouse, First Floor, 11 Mitchell Lane, Glasgow G1 3NU. Coming up in the next few weeks: - The Next Step with Arduino: 19th November 6pm - 8pmAn open workshop for budding Arduino users. Bring along your Arduino project or use the Arduino kits we have and try out some different sensors, outputs and techniques. Show us what you?ve made or ask questions about what?s holding up your Arduino project. To book, go to http://maklab.bigcartel.com/product/the-next-step-with-arduino-19-11-13 - Have a Go with Micro-Controllers: Tuesday 26th November 6pm - 8pmLearn everything you need to know to program AVR Microcontrollers - the compact, cheap platform for embedding computers into objects. This workshop will teach you all the basics for getting set up and programming your first chip. It will show you how to use the hardware and software required to do so, and you will come away with a simple LED device that displays text and simple animations! To book, go to http://maklab.bigcartel.com/product/have-a-go-with-micro-controllers-26-11-13 - Have a Go at DIY Screenprinting: 3rd December 6pm - 8pmScreenprinting is great fun and often produces great results very quickly. The cost of the equipment and the materials though is often prohibitive and puts people off, so at MAKlab we've been getting our heads together and coming up with a few simple upcycle solutions, which combined with stencils cut on our vinyl cutter will have you printing in no time! Come along to our workshop to find out more!http://maklab.bigcartel.com/product/have-a-go-at-diy-screenprinting - Have a Go at Digital Embroidery:10th December 6pm - 8pmIf you were to hand embroider a small logo, it could take hours, and if you were doing more than one, every one would vary, and it takes so long and it's so boring that I'm going to stop talking about it now! With an embroidery machine you can import a design of your choice simply through a USB stick and and press go. Around 20 minutes later you can have a complex logo embroidered on a piece of fabric or a garment. Imagine the possibilities, branded t- shirts with your own brand, customise whatever bit of clothing you want! In the workshop, we'll teach you how to set up your files and create a design and at the end of the workshop, one lucky winner will be selected to have their design embroidered on the machine. To book, go to http://maklab.bigcartel.com/product/have-a-go-at-digital-embroidery-10-12-13 Look forward to seeing you there!
