Regarding https://electronclub.org/doku.php?id=projects:welcome

I had a look at it, and unfortunately, it has a major and a fatal flaw. The play in the base axis is much more than 2mm even under light touch. This means that there will be a lot of uncertainty under realistic loads and speeds.

This can be used to make fun drawings, or for a base for an interactive display, but sadly, if you think it could ever be used for *manufacturing* then it is a waste of time. Under "standard" electronics&software, It will never make two things to be remotely similar.

If you think about it, even the original reprap was using proper steel rods & proper linear bearing cartridges as the axis guides, even tough the forces during 3D printing are among the lowest from all end effector types. This is for a reason. http://reprap.org/wiki/Linear_bearing

Again, we could try to make it a research tool for advanced/fancy control schemes (e.g. using a long coil actuator, machine vision feedback control, full state prediction, or other fancy things)) but other than that, the play in the axes is going to kill its final product capability.

Sorry to say that. Obviously, I could be wrong on that . . . . In which case I'd love to get corrected.

Thats interesting. Would love to, but can't right now unfortunately. Will have more time in January though.
