Helping Swindon Makerspace

I am involved in a Makerspace down in Swindon, where we have taken a huge gamble and self funded our own room, complete with 3D printer, laser cutter, woodworking tools, electronics stuff and no end of cool toys and more importantly, a growing community of like minded folk helping each other to get stuff done. From the day we opened the doors, it has taken only 6 months to grow to the point that the group is now sustainable from subscriptions (as opposed to the initial funds stumped up by the founders).

Now, we are on to phase 2. The space is double height - we want to build a Mezzanine floor to double the effective floor space.

We are applying to the Aviva Community Fund to help finance the building work.
