This sort of discussions is not clogging up the list, it is exactly on
topic, which, let's be honest is hardly busy at the best of times.

provide information about a particular event and automatic notification

Correct, the former almost never happened. Automatic notification is
happening by default because the *vast* majority didn't bother to follow
the rules and send a notification when booking the room.

This likely doesn't seem like a big deal to you but it causes issues for
those who deal with the admin side of things and on occasion for the CCA
staff. It also means that members aren't being made aware of events they
may be interested in, or the cancellation of events which they believe to
be going ahead. I field complaints from all sides for each scenario
mentioned, in addition to other issues.

As one of the points of contact for the EC the consequences of people not
being able to follow the very few rules we do have has an real impact on my
free time. We give the the CCA more trouble than any other individual
cultural tenant, more often than not because people don't bother to follow
what few rules/procedures we have, and it cost them money to host us.

It's in our best interests as a collective not to take advantage of their
generous hospitality, and to minimise the effort they expend in the process
of accommodating us.

The feature does not currently exist for individuals to opt out of one
receiving one type of email on the mailing list. Both the mailing list and
calendar software are open source, so it is possible, if you provide a
patch with the appropriate test cases I'll install it. I do not have the
time to create this feature.

The introduction of this automated mail was mentioned before it was
implemented (more than once actually), you didn't ask any questions or
raise an objection, nobody did.

Most people seem to understand that the flurry of notification emails to
the list are going to be short lived while people recreate bookings in the
new system as we move away from the old one. Given we have so few groups
making very few non repeat bookings the basic maths prove you won't be
inundated by such mails. Your options are:

Ignore them.
Create a rule/filter on your mailbox to move/delete them. Already mentioned
in other thread.
Create the functionality you desire, described above.

The first two options require the least effort, if as you say you're short
on time.
