All,

Apologies if you receive this message twice, I'm sending it to the members
and the announce mailing lists.

Recently CCA staff registered a complaint that a visitor to the Electron
club had brought a dog, which had made a "mess" in the shared space/CCA
staff break area, where people prepare meals etc.

I've had discussions with the CCA about this, and the new rule is that the
only animals allowed in the Electron club room (and surrounding areas) are
assistance dogs.

Given the nature of what goes on in the room we're not in a great position
to accommodate animals and frankly I get enough complains about the state
the human visitors to the Electron club leave the space in (often from
other EC members), this is a yet another problem I don't need.

In addition the CCA have asked that the following be passed on:

"Food Waste Bins
Food Waste bins for staff use have been placed at each of the internal
kitchenette/break areas. Any food waste can go in these bins (animal,
vegetable or mineral).
Please use these bins as much as you can; we have a dedicated external bin
that gets collected three times a week.

Ground Coffee
On a related note, please do not put food or coffee grounds down a sink -
this has been causing blocked pipes more and more in the last year or two.
Please use the Food Waste bin or a general waste bin instead.

Fruit Flies
Food waste is also the main reason we are having trouble this season with
fruit flies. Please dispose of your food waste quickly and responsibly, and
keep track when what you buy or bring in from home might go off or spoil.
Drinks can also be a problem, please wash up or return any glassware or
mugs quickly and pour any coffee or tea away before disposing of a
take-away cup. The same goes for drinks cans or bottles.

And Finally
Please do your own dishes and take any plates, bowls, jugs, cups, etc from
Saramago back to Saramago."

If you see anyone doing anything they shouldn't please raise the issue at
the time. Remember that our generous hosts don't ask very much of us, while
giving us a great deal.

Thanks

Martin
