The persecution of Aaron Swartz had little to do with what he was being
accused of and much more to do with sending out a message to to the next
generation of hackers that they can face long term prison sentences if
they mess with truth and freedom of information.

It should also send out a message to hackers how important there work is
in protecting that freedom.

So few in a world of program or be programmed have ever even heard of
open source, even when they are using projects based on it, yet the
possibilities and creative outlets are fantastic. Maybe the sad end of
someone  who sacrificed so much of his time for that freedom should
spark many more to consciously create awareness of the power of open
source technology.

I know little (nothing) about writing code but know much about how
important learning it can be. I would welcome comment on this wee radio
program I made explaining (how I see it anyway) open source. Maybe we
could all spend a bit of time on spreading a wee bit of knowledge in
memory of Aaron and his efforts to keep knowledge open for the good of all.
