I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it. My dad finds it handy
for being able to quickly setup email accounts (among other things), he'd
have to spend a lot longer working out and remembering how to do this from
the command line :)

For people doing these tasks occasionally I can see the attraction to
cPanel. But you're right, it depends on what you want to get out of it.

For clarification, cPanel is not a prerequisite for installing Wordpress. I
guess once we're all sitting down we can discuss the various objectives
people have, what their current hosting provides and take it from there.
