UNITY depends almost entirely on funds we raise from the sale of clothes
and small household items from our three charity shops in Govan and Ibrox.
We do not receive any government funding and are dependent entirely on
donations from supporters and what we raise in our shops.
Money raised in our charity shops goes towards supporting the different
projects we run including our food and clothing distribution
projects aimed at destitute asylum seekers as well as our English
classes; our football team, Glasgow United FC; the Unity Women's Project
and our bike project. Money raised also goes to fund the casework and
vital support for people in detention that we run from the Unity Centre.
We are urgently looking for donations of clothing to help raise funds.
Do you have any unwanted clothing that you would be able to donate so
that we can sell them to help Unity stay open?
We will also take shoes, bags, hats, books, dvds, cds, toys and small
household items. Sorry but we can't take electrical items or large items
of furniture. We will collect donations though if you can't manage to
drop them off.
So if you are clearing out your cupboards please put aside clothing,
toys, books, toys, etc for Unity.
We're also desperately looking for good quality gents clothing for our
new Clothing Depot above our new shop at 70 Shaw Street where we keep
clothing that people in need, such as destitute asylum seekers, can get
for free. (To refer people to the Unity Clothing Depot please see here)
You can drop off your donations at any of our three shops or at the
Unity Centre. The shops are open Mondays to Saturdays from 10.30am to
6.00pm and the Unity Centre is open Mondays to Fridays from 10.30 - 6.00pm.
We have sharity shops at:
*Red Charity Shop* 371 Paisley Road West G51 1LX
*Blue Charity Shop* 70 Shaw Street Govan G51 3BL
*Nae Borders Books* 118 Langlands Road Govan G51 3BU
or you can leave donations at the *Unity Centre* at 30 Ibrox Street, G51 1AQ

*/STOP PRESS/*: Unity's Bike Project which fixes up donated bikes and
provides them to asylum seekers who do not receive any cash support so
can't pay for travel around Glasgow urgently needs donations of bikes
for the project.
Do you have any unwanted bikes (adults or childrens) taking up space?
The Unity Bike Project would be happy to take them off your hands, fix
them up or use them for spares and then give them to asylum seekers who
will use them to get round the city or we'll sell them toraise funds for
the project.
Many thanks!
Unity!
