As far as I am aware, I believe that Iceland is tops for data protection.  John.

Subject: [ELECTRON] Good linux host - and data privacy laws...

Hello all,
and apologies in advance as this is slightly off the Electron topic (but has some interesting elements).

I'm thinking of changing my web hosting. I've a high user Linux account using Cpanel which is doing fine. I'm looking for a good web host with a similar thing, reliable more than the cheapest. Please email me about this personally - I don't want to clog up the list with server talk :-)

And here's the electron club angle...

I was starting to think about this in terms of data privacy and the law. I was wondering if it is best to have one's servers physically located in one country rather than another, especially with some rather nasty legislation being passed in Canada, the upcoming SOPA in the US, etc.

So which country (perhaps in EU/EEA) has servers physically located in a country which offers the best data privacy laws?

I think this is an interesting issue - especially with the way events seem to be going.

alan
