Regarding the arduinome I suggest getting the bibo button board rather than
the sparkfun, cheaper, easier build.

The files for making your own button board are available on the monome site.
Next is the unsped shield to interface the arduino and the button board.
Again you could make your own or try and buy one on the monome forum.
When I get time I'll see if I still have one spare which you could have.

I've got some plans regarding a monome/Raspberry Pi combo, can't wait until
they're available.
