[ELECTRON] Proposed new club + Arduino meet up

Your absolutely right. The Mega can be used as the controller using the
RAMPS shield. That seems to be the preferred option at the moment
electronics wise. I went for a ramps kit from e-bay and soldered it together
myself. But as we have skills and materials it would be good to see someone
create a ramps board or other control electronics from scratch. Would be a
useful experience for anyone who has not created a board before.

I am using stepstick drivers and an sd card hopefully will allow for better
printing.

Firmware is available an is open source so can be modified to your needs via
the Arduino interface.

As far as stepper motors go. If you look at zapp automation website they
have a couple of stepper motors that fit the bill.

the SY42STH47-1684B is listed on the reprap site as being suitable and is
AFAIK (hope so anyway, they are already bolted on) compatible with RAMPS.

I am so busy, but I expect that I will be able to show a competed if not
tested printer on the 15th.

The link above will show you just how far ahead I am on the build.
Frustratingly close!

I've been doing a little research. There seems to be a development to use a
arduino mega as the electrons, RAMPS. Don't yet know if can still use the
same stepper motors with it. Would be a nice tie in to the ardiuno group
though.

Still trying to get my head around exactly what is involved in building one
of these. Any should be fun.

HI all, great to hear from you all.

I've booked the club for 7.00 till 9.00 on thurs the 15th, I guess I
can change it if this does not suit. I've booked it for a reprap it
but would be great to talk about the arduino as well.

>From what I understand the five things that could be said to make up a
reprap are.

1.Electronics.

2. Frame.

3. Servos.

4. Software.

5.Printer head.

This is what we have to acquire or build,

Blair great work! would you mind bring in for us.

Anyway really looking forward to seeing you all.

Kieran.

Hey, well done Blair!

Sorry for not keeping in touch on this, I'm still up for getting
involved in a reprap build. When's the next arduino meet up?

night, I have done it the cheats way, bought kits for the bulk of the
parts.

Long time no hear!.

Anyway I am going to start a new club building a reprap it is going to
meet fortnightly either at my house or the electon club. Anyone is
welcome to come. To be truethful I don't have the foggiest idea how we

are going to build it, should be fun:).

Does any one know how i go about getting on the electron club list, (
am I already?) and setting this club up.

I have lots of ideas about using the arduino board, we should

definitely book a date in september to meet up. Shall we just book a
date. Saturday the 10th of September seems like as good date as any.

What do you think

Kieran.

Really enjoned playing with the Arduino boards, want one now, I might
have to raid the piggy bank. Thank you to every one who put hard work
into organising it.

Has anyone had any more ideas about a project?
