I am sorry to hear that Gordon

I havent been around much, but would be tempted to ask: did you label the
respective piles with clear instructions as to their meaning? Often these
things happen when we do not communicate clearly (I always label things I
want to throw/keep when I can/rememb er have time, learned this lesson in
parents house. In fact now I use increasingly flashy labels)

a pile of rubbish of one person can be a valuable item for another ...
