[ELECTRON] Introductory electronics book?

Hey.

I'm after a recommendation with or without loan/gift of an introductory
electronics book. I need something that will take me through the basics,
step by step. I'm kind of envisioning a book divided into "lessons" - I'd
especially like a recommendation from anyone who's taught themselves from a
book.
