IdeasTap launches the Green Fund, £40,000-worth of funding to help young people realise eco friendly creative projects.

IdeasTap is offering eight awards of £5,000 each for the most original, engaging ideas that either address green issues or are produced in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Ideas Fund Green is about coming up with a thought-provoking idea around the environment and green issues that will inspire people, not lecture them. Last year’s winners included a pedal-power water battery; a 30-minute film about the environmental activist squatter scene in London; an iPhone app that enable you to virtually collect rare species of butterflies and bees, and a giant bee hive that held workshops and honey tastings to celebrate the humble bumble bee.

Aiming to make the funding process easier for young people, the Ideas Fund is dedicated to providing opportunities for up-and-coming talent.

Closes: 23rd May 2011 at 5pm

Ideas Fund Green is part of IdeasTap’s annual £150,000 Ideas Fund that first launched in June 2009. The awards are open to anyone aged 16-25-year-old.

IdeasTap IdeasTap is a charity that funds, connects and nurtures new creative talent. It was launched in December 2008 as the arts platform of The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust, which more broadly awards grants to organisations that aim to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the UK. The IdeasTap website currently has a membership of over 38,000 and provides a platform for young creative people to connect, showcase their work and skills, find jobs, and promote events and exhibitions of their work. Through its partnership programme, IdeasTap works to deliver these life-changing opportunities with: Magnum Photos, Old Vic New Voices, National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and National Student Drama Festival www.ideastap.com
