Hi,
I have set up a test account with groupserver to see if it is a suitable
alternative to our current mailing lists.
It provides a combined forum (access all messages via a web page) and
mailing list (get all messages via your own email account) system, clear
archiving with message threads and file-sharing options but in a simple
clean fashion without to many bells and whistles.
Plus it is 100% FLOSS (unlike google groups or nabble which seem the
closest alternatives).
I was wondering if a few people from this list would be up for joining to
help test it out, see if it is a better than what we have at present and
if it is easy enough to use?
Would be great if we had people with a range of tech-savvy-ness so we can
see how it suits people with different skills levels.
I have called it "ectect", to join you first register here:
http://ect.onlinegroups.net/request_registration.html
Then you will receive a verification email that you have to confirm, then
once you have been confirmed you can select to join a group or create a
new one.
I don't want to explain too much up front as one thing I want to get
feedback on from people is whether the groupserver system as it is is
clear enough and easy to understand.
If it looks like a go-er then at some stage we will set it up as the main
system for Electron Club groups.
best wishes
Si
