Welcome to new members Liam Casey, Anny Deery, Josh Goldsmith, Bradley
Davies, and Robert Lafferty.

Liam says:
Hi there
my name is Liam Casey, i think some of you may know me already, i have
been using the electron club space for a couple years whether thats with
the DIY Festival group, Glasgow Social Centre or Education Activist groups.
I'm an on and off architecture student at Glasgow School of Art but much
prefer a school i set up with some friends last summer called 'Glasgow
Open School' -this is an experimental education project which uses
various frameworks to instigate collective research and exploration.
I was hoping that i could meet some people involved in open source web
coding and software through electron club. The open school has a simple
collaborative process of proposing events and attending, everyone
involved constantly redefines what the school is. Recently i have felt
we need a web platform which can better facilitate this sort of
collaboration. For example i'm interested by wiki's which allow
collective editing of content.
We're looking for someone in Glasgow who might work with us in testing
the boundaries of open source and open source education -looking at how
social structures are manifested in web structures.

We are a voluntary run school, there are no members, not even me -we
want to offer the framework of the open school up in to the commons. At
the moment a couple of people i know and myself are also looking for
space to work on open school and other projects- so i was wondering if
this was something that electron club could provide also.

It would be great to see if open school could provide frameworks for
electron club events in the future or if there are other ways the two
could work together.
thanks
hope to hear from you soon
Liam Casey

Anny says:
I'm intrigued by the positive application of social media and what that
means in the real world.

Josh says:
Hi,I found out about your club through the CCA website. I'm really
interested in hardware hacking and using PD. I'm really into field
recording and making random noise. I've messed around doing this but I
think being part of a club would be great for learning new skills and
experimenting further.

Cheers,
Josh

Bradley says:
Sound sculpture, modular synths, recording and installation.

Robert says:
I am interested in multiple monitor displaying of video work and also
the interactivity of new media and video.

Quick responses:

For those of you interested in sound and video, etc we have a Pure Data
group who meet on an occasional basis, they are planning a meeting
soon(ish) and also have their own mailing list which you might want to join:

Liam, to book the space just check if the dates you want are free on our
calendar:

    http://www.electronclub.org/webcalendar/month.php

and then follow the instructions here:

    http://www.electronclub.org/doku.php?id=howto:calendar

Liam, Anny and others who are interested - might be time for setting up
a group or mailing list specifically looking at social dimensions of media.

best wishes
Si
