i was browsing the pages of contact conference in NY, I seem to know many
of its participants from different walks of life
http://contactcon.com <http://contactcon.com/node/12/nolink>

The going theme is, in the event of internet failure what do we do?
http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9207078/Without_Internet_Egyptians_find_new_ways_to_get_online

(applies to political interventions as well as to emergency/disaster)

Entered in some discussions on their mailing list here
http://groups.google.com/group/building-a-distributed-decentralized-internet

And started thinking how to map the network resilience capabilities , in
terms of whos got 'capability'
(know how, kits, servers, skills, ideas etc). I'd like to see a map of
people and initiatives w/w we can
start building on

Some meetups are being organised w/w, and I thought this is an important
topic
that a community like Electron could be a focal point for

So my question to the EC is

what have we got in Scotland that we can contribute to this global
initiative
and would anyone be interestd in setting up a group/page to start gathering
resources
to that effect

would anyone be interested to propose a remote session for Contactcon (I do
not plan to attend iin person
but may like to make a virtual contribution)

I am very busy, but should be able to devote a few hours if others think its
of interest

if interested, lets meetup and make a plan

cheers
