Thanks Martin.
PS2 infra red, but have changed the mouse to no effect.
Keyboard seems to work at the booting up stage as I have down several bits of
Footering with it but once desktop appears I have no control over keyboard or
mouse.   John

Well, in order to be any help you're going to have to provide some more
information.

What sort of mouse is it? (USB/PS2)? Wireless?
Does your keyboard work or is that also frozen?
If it is working try pressing the escape key then moving the mouse.
If your keyboard is working and the escape trick doesn't work open up a new
shell (ctrl + alt + f2) and see if dmesg or /var/log/messages sheds any light on
the problem.

Thanks

Martin
