Friday 22 October - Sat 23 October 2010: Direktorenhaus, Berlin
Exploring new forms for radio and software.

What is it?

ON2: Test Signals brings together software developers and radio
practitioners to demonstrate, discuss and develop new ways of applying
software to radio. ON2 features three days of expert keynotes, open
presentations and hands-on workshops.

Who should come?

The festival will be of particular interest to radio station managers,
open source developers, web entrepreneurs, hardware hackers and journalists.

Approaching the traditional conference in a new way, by allowing the
audience to set the agendas and directly connect with invited guests,
ON2 seeks to start conversations and form partnerships. Using social
media and open public wiki spaces, ON2 will promote transparency in its
organisation, encouraging the sharing of resources and ideas.

Public events will be free to attend, but sign up is required (see below).
Who will be there?

Guests appearing at the festival include radio futurologist James
Cridland (BBC, audioboo),David Bailey MBE (NATO Information Operations
Consultant), Abdoulaye Diakhate ([West Africa Democracy Radio), Henrik
Moltke (Mozilla Drumbeat/Creative Commons), Chris Weaver (Resonance FM),
and representatives from Unikom, Global Radio, RadioDNS, Mekong ICT,
Radio Aporee, 64 Studio, Liquidsoap, MPD and many, many more.

reboot.fm , Berlin’s free cultural radio station and user-generated
radio pioneers Open Broadcast from Switzerland, are official partners of
the festival. The festival is also an official satellite event of
transmediale, festival for art and digital culture, and is the first in
a series of open-source workshop events supported by the Free Culture
Incubator. The festival is also partnered by Mute magazine, a magazine
dedicated to exploring culture and politics after the net.
How do I attend?

ON2: Test Signals is free to attend, but registration is required. Find
how out on the registration page.

Why radio?

The arrival of the transistor radio in 1954 announced what would become
the most popular electronic communication device in history. Since that
time, although radio technology has remained largely unchanged, its
boundaries have shifted significantly. An open site for collaboration,
quality content and experimentation - all hallmarks of the latest
evolution of the web - radio has a popularity, adaptability and low cost
that has seen it move into new platforms and territories.
