A big hello to new members Scott Newson and Christopher Davies

I'm a student from Canada, but I'm in Glasgow for the summer to work. I like all sorts of 'hacking' (in the good sense), particularly the sort involving computers and/or teaching people. Listening to people talk about what they find interesting is particularly fun.

I'm a Mechanical Design Engineering student looking for somewhere where I can learn more about electronics. I've just finished a module on Instrumentation and Data Systems so am well versed in design of filters and opamps, but want to learn more and then put it into practice to make some cool stuff.

I've read about bug labs and RepRap and things of that sort and would really like to get involved. Any suggestions of where to start would be much appreciated!
