Well done Kenny for getting the ball rolling!

I'm not sure I can make it this weekend. I'll give it a shot though
and see if I can pop in for at least some of the time.

Pete, Most of the people I know that are used to MAX transition to PD
pretty easily. The languages have a common ancestry, so a lot of the
objects are the same, etc. The basic fundamentals are pretty much
identical. In the workshops I've attended and given there seems to be a
common thread that all MAX users share. They all pick Pd up really
quickly, but they all moan about the 'clunky UI' and get frustrated by
not being able to use their full object vocabulary instantly. You tend
to hear MAX veterans say, "This is sooo much easier / better / faster /
whatever in MAX." IMHO, it's less about MAX being "better" than Pd (or
the reciprocal) and more to people being naturally resistant to change.
If you are willing to deal with those issues, I think you'll have fun in
with Pd crowd & likely have a lot to contribute.

As for getting Pd and MAX talking to each other, there are plenty of
ways of doing so. OSC (Open Sound Control) is probably the most
straight forward method, but their are others. There are also some
externals in Pd that help with MAX compatibility stuff. I've never had
the need, so never looked at them.
