Hi folks,
As some of you will be aware the social centre are contributing to the CCA's 'This land is your land' project on Friday 23rd July 12 till 2pm with a series of presentations around the theme as experienced on the ground.

On a lighter note we are also spring-boarding a community arts event at garnett hill park(off rose st nr the GFT.....G3 6RE) on Sun 25th July from noon. This will be loosely based on the 'Day Out Of Time' Celebrations, an international day of festivities promoting the concept of 'Peace through culture' and 'Time is Art'. For those of you who are familiar with the park it is particularly appropriate for this with its Mayan like pyramid ,water garden and amphitheater.

The day will be a celebration of community, the park and the fine thought and work that brought it into being, an inspiration for the many community garden and landscaping projects currently emerging and those to come in the future.
The basic plan is to have a pa system set up in the amphitheatre area for music, poets, storytellers etc with dancers, performance artists and all things accoustic at the pyramid----or maybe the other way round!.........
 nothing set in stone,this is the first year for doing this event here so we feel our way and set a precedent for an annual celebration. 

The idea is that the two spaces be  linked by the 'Rainbow Bridge' via the stone staircase and stepping stone water garden.
The Rainbow bridge will be processional ie made of people using costume ,body paint ,flags ,banners etc and hopefully have a ceremonial element to it....this may involve the planting of a vine .

Sofar we have the' peoples kitchen' group working on providing free food, a pa system. some materials, and a growing cast of performers and artists plus the debut performance of a locally produced radio play and hopera(!) written by the late Fraser Clarke 'MEGATRIPOLIS at FOREVER' which introduces the concept of TimeDancing!!.....

...calling artists, musicians, poets, performers and all celebrants.......WE NEED YOU ! ...... to quote from megatripolis...
 ... IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOU !!

                                                                                                                                                                                The Rose Street multicultural centre have offered us the use of their rooms for workshops etc on thursday 22 July (12 till 4pm) and all day Friday 23 July till 4pm 

 Thanks to Nina Baker(green) and Craig Mackay(snp garnett hill) for supporting this initiative by way of representations to the city council for premissions.

There has been a question raised about the availability of electricity in the park although the community council have said that power was accessible for previous gala days held there. We have a pa and a very long extension cable but given the present uncertainties if anybody can provide a generator this would obviously be a good back up.The Coach House Trust are making a van available to us on sunday if this is needed.

If anybody has a self  powered pa system this would  probably be ideal!

 Materials ,flags, banners and artworks can be brought to the multicultural centreThursday and Friday or bring them along on the day.
SHOUT OUT to all to bring rainbow coloured UMBRELLAS for decoration and to build the rainbow bridge.....of course we are expecting great weather!!!
