After a few delays we now have our own broadband setup at the Electron Club.

At present it is running through the ADSL router which has both wifi and
a small number of ethernet ports for connections. Next stage will be to
get a proper firewall and internal server for the printer etc. back up.
There'll be a note up in the room with details for logging onto the wifi.

A big thanks to everyone who helped out with the Open Day way back in
June. Even though we didn't raise a huge amount from donations, etc on
the day, it was through having the event that the other organisations
decided that we were worth supporting and made the funds available - so
was definitely worth the effort!

Thanks to CCA and New Media Scotland for their contributions to our costs.

Now that we have it setup we can start to think of ways that we can make
greater use of our facilities. Some people are interested in making the
room available during daytime as a shared office for not-for-profit
groups and individuals - similar to how Document currently use it. This
would not interfere with the evening use for workshops which will
continue. Would also be good to have more fun stuff too - a few live
streaming events, music nights, our own online radio station etc. Have a
think and let us know what you'd be interested in.

best wishes
Si
