Wow! Thanks Ross thats very kind of you:) I might be in Birmingham this coming Wednesday, if so would it be ok to bring it in the following week? The only problem with taking the motherboard off is that two of the little black screws have lost there heads, I will try and grab some new ones and bring them with me and maybe we can prise the stuck ones off with something.

Thanks again, Joe

Joe,

Bring this along to the SOLDER group on Wednesday evening (5:30 to 8:30pm)
and we can give it a blast with the hot air rework tool. This will re-melt
the solder balls on the bottom of the chip and (70-80% likely) reflow
everything, meaning any dodgy solder connections under this could get fixed.
Another potential fault is a lack of cooling so we can remove the heatsinks
from the chips and re-apply some thermal paste between the chip and
heatsink. I think I heard rumours that not all Xboxes were properly treated
in the factory with thermal paste, so that may also fix the issue.

Looks like there will be another Xbox coming along for exactly the same
fault that night.

Can¹t promise anything but it might well work!
