Hello EC members,

Following up from the recent discussion about possible upcoming
Arduino classes, I've noticed a solder-it-yourself Duemilanove 328
(latest 2009 version) compatible kit, called the Freeduino, which
comes with all the bits and lets you have the fun of making your own
development board. I think it's hilarious that there's an 'open' kit
alternative to what already is sold as an 'open source' system.

There's a website called fundamentallogic.com which are doing these
boards for £15 each (roughly) which is about £10 less than the ready-
made 'brand name' Arduino Duemilanove. The kit has everything you need
except a USB cable (standard type) with very clear instructions for
assembly on their website, and I plan to place an order for some of
these to build up at the SOLDER group.

If you're interested in the Arduino but don't have a board, or want to
upgrade to the 2009 version this may well be interesting to you.

If you want to club up with my purchase and save postage, let me know
in the next day or two (offline from the EC mailing list please!) Will
order on Friday lunchtime.

If you want to build your own Arduino board but aren't too sure about
soldering, feel free to come along to the SOLDER group (Tuesdays drop-
in 5:30-8:30pm).
