[ELECTRON] strandbeest

I saw these guys a couple of years ago in Trafalgar square. All driven off air compressed by sun heat, in drinks bottles. Absolutely no electronics in this amazing engineering from the Netherlands: see it anywhere you can get to:

If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, please come to StrandPaviljoen De Fuut on the beach in The Hague. Theo Jansen, who is able to create life from plastic tubes, will be holding a try-out of his latest creation, Animaris Umerus (with water feeler) daily until 24 June 2009. If Shrewsbury (UK) or Seoul are closer for you, you will soon be able see the beach animals there too. Check out at:
