[ELECTRON] Freeduino building list / Arduino tutorial workshop list

Simon, Kenny,

I'd asked Kenny Duffus a few days ago to look into setting up an EC
server based mailing list for the Freeduino building project but
haven't heard back - he did say he was rather busy this month.

My thoughts on the matter are that there will be two spheres of
activity relating to the Arduino boards: building them (collaborative
workshops through our SOLDER group); and using them (I see others have
suggested an Arduino workshop in the future).

Could we separate the two projects by having a Freeduino-building list
now, with a re-focus on using the Arduino platform (and transfer of
list members) when such a course materialises?
I'd like to provide whoever manages this list with the emails of those
buying boards through me so they can be auto-subscribed, but perhaps
an invitation could be sent through the regular EC mailing list
inviting others to join as folk might have placed their own orders.

When offering a group buy of DIY Arduino kits I saw an opportunity to
(a) encourage EC members to get experience with soldering and build a
self-contained, straightforward and cheap microcontroller development
kit for beginners and (b) give those considering Arduino-based
workshops some more time to get things together (some said they were
too busy to do this at present). I'll be happy to come along to
Arduino workshops to help but would hope others could actually take
charge and run the course!

I intend that building the kits will be a finite project of three
evening workshops. Provisionally the dates I had in mind were Wed 22
July, Mon 3 Aug and Tue 11 Aug (pending the arrival of kits in time).
Most builders should complete in one or two sessions. Having different
days of the week means everyone should manage at least one evening and
secondly space/resources will be less tight this way. I'll announce
firmer plans in due course.
